Well we’ve had a tiring but very enjoyable weekend talking to lots of people about all things alpaca, and selling lots of lovely things made with alpaca fibre. Here are some views of our shop …
Next weekend we are opening our doors, come and see all the original alpaca gifts available, from as little as 50p, produced from fibre from our own alpacas. Gift vouchers, many knitted items, socks, teddies, mitts, etc, or buy someone a voucher for a course to learn to spin or weave! Open 10 to 4 both days or call for visits at other times 07788671194 or directions. Signposted from the A38 in Lower Weare. Mince pies and mulled wine for the Christmas feeling!! Hope to see you there.
It has indeed been very quiet round here, though the major summer jobs have been done – particularly shearing and haylage-making. We don’t seem to have made it to many shows this year, though that is changing this week with Pat going off to the North Devon Show (near Barnstaple) on Wednesday. See their website for all the details. She’s actually going on the Tuesday to help the alpaca fleece judge get through all the show entries, but on the Wednesday she’ll have a small stand with lots of alpaca products for sale – most of them made from our own natural (undyed) alpaca fibre. Take a look at the Blacklands Alpacas Shop Facebook page to see some of the lovely new things Pat has developed.
Pat’s just finished making all these Teddies for Atticus and Gilda in London … aren’t they gorgeous ? They are all hand-knitted from totally natural alpaca yarn (no dyes at all) and stuffed with a hollow fibre filling.
