Another pair of mittens finished today … photos to follow !
The official Guides for the Arts Fortnight have now been published, and it’s great to see just how many Studios across Somerset will be open for the event. See a map of all the Studios at http://www.somersetartworks.org.uk/venue/map
Plans are progressing very nicely for our “Open Studio” as part of the Somerset Arts Weeks event (from September 20th – October 5th) – see http://www.somersetartworks.org.uk/artweeks14. Now I really must get on and produce lots more lovely alpaca products !
Well not only have we decided to go ahead with opening up for Somerset Arts Weeks (September 20th – October 5th), but we have partnered with Lorraine Chalmers of Yeo River Glass, who makes fantastic fused glass items. She will be bringing lots of her beautiful items to our farm to display alongside our alpaca products and she’ll be very happy to discuss how she achieves such amazing results. See her website at http://yeoriverglass.co.uk/.
Having (in previous years) visited many of the studios which open to the public during Somerset Arts Week, we’ve just decided that we should join in. The event is organised by “Somerset Art Works” – see http://www.somersetartworks.org.uk/
Next weekend we are opening our doors, come and see all the original alpaca gifts available, from as little as 50p, produced from fibre from our own alpacas. Gift vouchers, many knitted items, socks, teddies, mitts, etc, or buy someone a voucher for a course to learn to spin or weave! Open 10 to 4 both days or call for visits at other times 07788671194 or directions. Signposted from the A38 in Lower Weare. Mince pies and mulled wine for the Christmas feeling!! Hope to see you there.
We had a lovely day out in Cheltenham yesterday at the SPANA charity event. The sun shone, the setting was great and there was lots of interest shown in our alpacas. As it happens, we were next door to a couple of llamas, so we were easily able to answer the common question “so what’s the difference between an alpaca and a llama ?”
