Anyone in the UK involved with alpacas should be a member of the British Alpaca Society

If you’re situated in the Southwest of England, the local regional group of the BAS, providing mutual support and advice as well as seminars on topics of interest, is the South West Alpaca Group (SWAG).  SWAG also produce a quarterly Newsletter and an annual Yearbook.

SWAG organises the annual BAS Spring Show, normally held in March/April in the Bristol area and the alpaca classes at the Royal Bath and West Show in May/June.

An interesting site for assessing the probability of obtaining a cria of any particular colour, given the colour of its parents, is the Alpaca Color Calculator – this is of course purely statistical, but is based on the American herd, a much larger sample than could be obtained in the UK.
